The Association of Military Veterans and Veterans with Disabilities (AMVVD) “Sfantul Mare Mucenic Dimitrie – Izvoratorul de Mir”, established by Decision no. 180/17.09.2013, is an apolitical socio-professional association for military veterans wounded in the military theaters of Afganistan, Irak and the Western Balcans (Bosnia Herzegovina and Kosovo).
AMVVD makes a purpose out of giving support to the military veterans (reserved, retired or active) and to people with social and medical troubles.
An initiative that AMVVD holds dear is to manage to build a FIRST CENTER OF RECOVERY in Romania for the military that have been permanently afflicted, with the purpose of ensuring their physical and psychological recovery – a center meant for those wounded in the operation theaters but also for their families and other members of the association. There are many veterans that have undergone amputations, paralyses or other types of mutilation in the operation theaters and they still need recovery, physical and psychological support and treatment. We want to bring our contribution to hailing these living heroes. The brothers-in-arms that have fallen bind us through their sacrifice in a struggle out of which we can only emerge triumphant!
PARTICIPATE for us and think of those for whom the flag is being lifted and to whom the hymn is daily sung.
ENLIST for us and each meter that you run WILL BE YOUR HOMAGE FOR THOSE OF US THAT HAVE LEFT AND ARE NOT COMING BACK!
RUN for us and think that every step you take will bring us closer to our goal, that of building the recovery and health restoration center! And when you feel you can’t bear the burden, think of the dust of Afghanistan, or the heat of Irak, and keep on going and smiling, because you are honoring the heroes of Romania, those that represent you. Weapon in hand, anywhere on Earth!
WE WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU with a smile on our lips, at the FINNISH LINE and TOGETHER, whole-heartedly, WE WILL RAISE OUR EYES TOWARDS HEAVEN: “UP there are 29 souls” (children, parents, brothers, husbands)!
Today you have also run for them, my brother-in-arms!
