Constantina Dita – Olympic champion in Beijing 2008, will officially retire in October, at the Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest International Marathon (October 4-5).

The announcement was made today, July 3rd, during the press conference organized by Bucharest Running Club (BRC)- organizer of the RBBIM. With the same occasion, BRC informed that Constantina became Ambassador of the event. “I wanted so much to retire in Romania, the country I love and proudly represented and I’m happy to do this during the most important country’s marathon race. I wish everyone to live, at least once in a lifetime, the joy of winning a marathon, it is an incredible feeling,” Constantina Dita said.

At the press conference, along with Constantina Dita, multiple world and Olympic champions Laura Badea – Director, Romanian Olympic Academy amd Andreea Raducan – President, Romanian Olympic Foundation have been present. Also, the RBBIM institutional partners have been represented by Carmen Tocala – Secretary of State, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Florin Florea – Secretary General, Romanian Athletic Federation and Marcel Nicolaescu – Bucharest City Hall. The sponsors have been represented by Corina Vasile – Communication Director, Raiffeisen Bank, Freek Valk – Director of Operations, Athénée Palace Hilton and Ana Maita – SAMAS. Valeria Racila van Groningen – President, Bucharest Running Club and Oana Nastase – Director, Bucharest Running Club hosted the event.

More than 8000 persons, from 50 countries, are expected at the 7th edition of Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest International Marathon, on October 4th and 5th, to run the marathon, half marathon, relay and popular races. Parents having kids under 4 years old can run the 800m “Diapers Jogging”. Kids having 5-12 years old will also have their dedicated races.
